Help with electricity bills

Making ends meet isn’t always easy, but there are services and programs that can help you reduce your living costs or pay for essential services.

Bill relief programs

Most Tasmanian electricity customers are supplied by a retailer, such as Aurora Energy, Solstice, 1st Energy, Momentum, CovaU or Energy Locals.

There is one program providing bill relief for these customers:

  • Energy Bill Relief Extension 2025-26 – this is a once-off payment of $150 from the Australian Government, administered by the Tasmanian Government.

Customers served by retailers do not need to apply to receive these rebates. The payments are all managed directly by retailers, and will be added to your bills automatically If you have questions about your rebate, please contact your electricity retailer.

If your principal place of residence is in a caravan park, retirement village or other situations where a landlord bills you for your electricity usage and that usage is metered, then you are considered to be living on an embedded network.

There are two programs active in 2025-26 for permanent residential connections on embedded networks, details are here.

Customers that do not receive an individually metered electricity supply (eg. a person renting a caravan sharing residential land and taking electricity from another connection) do not meet the definition of an embedded network customer.
